In light of what went down with your sister 2016, I wanted to reach out to you to make sure you are prepared to take on the burden of repairing the destruction she left behind. Many did not come out with their lives, and even I still have nightmares about the election your sister totally botched.
I’m writing this letter to you to give you some advice. A few tips, I’m sure, are welcomed with all the weight on your shoulders. Because, quite frankly, it is simply not fair how 2016 left us. Unfortunately, it’s your job to pick up America’s pieces and try to stick them back together, but that’s just the way it is. She is your sister after all.
She was the year of “realizing stuff”. May you be the year that these realized things become resolved things. There is simply no point in discovering a problem only to stare at it with a magnifying glass. Let’s take action, 2017.

She was the year of cover ups, whether it be facts, emails, or your face. May you be the year of uncovering the truth. Contouring shit may make it beautiful, but it will still smell like shit.

She was the year of calling out “fuckboys”. May you bring them to a swift and painful end. Although the hilarious screen shots will come to an end along with it, we are all just tired.

She was the year of a gorilla stealing our love away from our own species. 2016 was also the year we tried to write this dead gorilla in as President of the United States. This seriously needs to be wiped from everyone’s memory. It is an embarrassment to know that our great grandchildren will read about this in their text books.

She was the year of Spongegar Memes, and then the year of taking them away. Those, you can bring back because I miss them.

She was the year of the dab. Let’s leave that behind. It was overused and not funny unless done ironically.

I’m sure I’m missing some, but these were what stuck out in my mind. Obviously, 2016 was…something else. And I’m sure, as hard as you try to be better, we will say the same thing about you in about 12 months.
Anyway, best of luck to you. You only have one year to live, a year to make a difference. I we can all make the most of it.
